CELEBRATING 157 YEARS OF FREEDOM IN THE 517
The 517 Juneteenth Weekend is a unique opportunity for the Mid-Michigan region to celebrate black culture, expression, and experiences. June 19th, 1865, marks the emancipation of roughly 4 million African-American slaves in the United States. As we reflect on 157 years of the emancipation of slavery, we celebrate the future of black freedom, black creation, black entrepreneurship, and the black community in Lansing, MI.
This Juneteenth Weekend offers a variety of events and activities in Lansing's most upbeat district while highlighting a range of black-local artists and art forms, black-owned businesses, food vendors, informational booths, and much more.

Myles Johnson, Vendor
As a vendor, for my brand it was a wonderful event, there was tons of people especially for it being the first year. I definitely made my money back 10 fold.

Tony Willis, Speaker
The Juneteenth Festival was a full celebration of the black experience and brought together the Lansing community in a way that events seldom do. My whole family had a wonderful time and look forward to celebrating again next year.
