On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved Black people in America finally received word that they were free. That moment of jubilee, long overdue and hard won, is what brings us together every June in the heart of Lansing.
The 517 Juneteenth Weekend is Mid-Michigan's largest cultural celebration. Now in its sixth year, it is four days of joy, healing, music, and community that honors where we come from and affirms where we are going.
Freedom is not just something we remember. It is something we live, share, and build on together.

Save the Date for 517 Juneteenth Weekend, a four-day celebration of culture, community, and connection in Lansing, Michigan.
This year’s experience includes the Juneteenth Health & Wellness Seminar, Healthy People Creating Healthy Communities, exploring the 8 dimensions of wellness and equipping attendees with tools for personal and community growth.
Families can enjoy the Juneteenth Ice Cream Social presented by MSUFCU, featuring 600 free ice cream samples, youth activities, music, and interactive experiences.
Saturday’s festival brings 100+ Black-owned businesses, a full food court, live performances, and a block party in REO Town, with a special headliner to be announced April 20.
The weekend concludes with a Father’s Day Jazz Night, closing the celebration with a soulful, elevated experience.
