Juneteenth seminar:

healthy people creating healthy communities

June 18, 2026 | 6pm | Cadillac room

Thursday, june 18

Juneteenth is a day of power. A celebration of freedom built on resilience, faith, and community. After emancipation, freed people didn't wait — they built churches, schools, and businesses that shaped the world we live in today. This seminar is about continuing that work.

What to Expect

Dr. Alexis Travis closes the event with a powerful message on what it truly means to honor our legacy through personal and collective wellbeing.

Panel 1: Healthy People Creating Healthy Communities. Mind. Body. Social Wellbeing.

Featuring: Toni Glasscoe (Lansing Community College), LaDonna Croffe (Michigan State University), and Darryl Steele (Michigan State University)

Our first panel gets to the root. Healthy communities are built by healthy people. Hear from voices across mental wellness, physical health, and education as they break down how investing in yourself creates ripple effects that reach the whole community.

Panel 2: Financial and Occupational Wellness | Money. Business. Career.

Featuring: Desmond Ferguson (Moneyball Sportswear), Dr. Darla Bishop (Finasis), and Jamara Randall (MSUFCU)

Economic stability has always been tied to freedom. Our second panel brings together perspectives on personal finance, entrepreneurship, and career growth to show how building wealth is an act of legacy, not just ambition.
